Nunes V Ronda

If you haven’t seen the 48 seconds of Ronda Rousey getting pummeled check youtube. It’s everywhere. I watched live and was struck by just how totally unprepared Ronda was when she was hit. After a year in seclusion, one would have thought she would have had a better showing.

I don’t mean to beat up on Ronda, hell I’m a fan, but her confidence is gone. Why she went toe to toe with Amanda Nunes standing up is anyone’s guess. Granted she really didn’t get much of a chance to take it to the ground. Amanda did a great job.

Ronda looked to be in the best shape I’ve seen for a while now. But mentally, Ronda isn’t in the game anymore. It reminds me of Tiger Woods, unquestionably one of the best golfers ever, but after his marriage fell apart, he hasn’t been able to reach even close to his former capabilities.

Can she come back?  Sure if she humbles herself, takes a hard look at her skills and weaknesses.  But will she?

Folks, whether it’s sports or life in general, the game is 90% mental. Win that and the physical is easy. Don’t get me wrong, that metal game is a tough son of a B$%ch.  It’s often easier to strive for something than to retain it.

Amanda did a perfect job.  She new Ronda’s weakness and hammered it.  Nunes looks to be there for a while.

Well no surprise, nobody stays on top forever.

As to the UFC, I’m pretty much done with it. It’s not that there aren’t good fights and good fighters but the trash talking and promotion is disturbing. Plus all the damn rules stop a good street fighter from winning and Dana White just gets on my nerves.

Miss Sloane a dud

I didn’t see that coming (Sarc)

So it looks like the highly touted anti-gun / anti-NRA movie is bombing badly at the box office.

Miss Sloane is a story of a DC lobbyist that takes on the “most powerful opponent of her career”, an obvious reference to the NRA.

So the elites in Hollywood somehow thought that a film where the hero is a lobbyist would make for a good movie. I suppose in progressive land this makes sense. However, in the really real world where the American public is growing tired of the self-righteous elites dictating our rights, it may not have been such a smart move.

The movie according to Box Office Mojo, had a total revenue for Miss Sloane at a paltry $3.188m. That’s after 4 weeks. Let’s compare to say, Bad Santa which has also been out for 4 weeks and has made over $17m in about 1/3 of the number of theaters.

I saw the preview for Miss Sloane while waiting to watch Arrival. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed, nope we wouldn’t be wasting money on that propaganda.

Jessica Chastain may be a good actress, I don’t know I haven’t seen anything she has been in. Zero Dark Thirty which would normally fall into my range of films, had some elements that didn’t meet the smell test so I may catch it on TV someday.

Bias alert: I am an NRA member….

In other news:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Permits to carry concealed handguns are up in the second-most populated county in Colorado.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Natalie Sosa told The Gazette that officials noticed the spike after last year’s shooting on Halloween was followed by another on Black Friday.

The department issued 7,100 concealed carry permits through November this year, almost twice as many as it did in 2015.

Berlin Terrorist killed in Milan

Italian Police kill Tunisian terrorist

A wanted notice for a Tunisian suspect in the truck attack on a Christmas market in Berlin says the man should be considered armed and dangerous

…Berlin truck terrorist Anis Amri has been shot dead after a gunfight with police in Milan in the early hours of this morning.

The Tunisian pulled a gun from his backpack, screamed ‘Allahu Akbar’ and opened fire on two officers – hitting one in the shoulder – before being shot dead after getting off a train from France…

…The 24-year-old ISIS fanatic was stopped by a routine police patrol in the suburb of Sesto San Giovanni in the northern Italian city of Milan at about 3am local time.

Two officers asked him for ID documents, at which point Amri ‘immediately’ pulled a gun from his backpack and shouted ‘police b******s’ as he shot one in the shoulder.

A firefight ensued with Amri cowering behind a car as he tried to flee, but the suspect was shot and killed by the second officer – a trainee who had only been in the job a few months…

Good Job to Officers Chirstian Movio who was shot and Luca Scata. There solid police work stands out among the shoddy work of many others guided by political correctness.

The mistakes made by the German and Italian authorities are probably too numerous to mention but here are just a couple of things to think about.

The German police somehow missed the attacker’s wallet which was left in the lorry for hours.

Anis Amri had been under surveillance for months prior

He had been arrested three times this year but never deported

Anis had fled Tunisia after a violent robbery that sentenced him to five years (absentia). He ran to Italy and filed for asylum. He claimed as many do that he was a minor. In Italy he was involved in a riot in the detention center where he was staying and jailed for four years. Italy failed to deport him twice, when he then fled to Germany.

…With nowhere to go after his release, ISIS recruiters offered him protection before convincing him to sneak into Germany as a Syrian refugee, a source within Tunisia’s anti-terror police revealed.

The source told MailOnline: ‘Whatever he decided to do in Germany was started while he was in Italy.

‘They gave him food and shelter and persuaded him to carry out a mission for them. It was in Italy that he was radicalised.

‘He entered Germany posing as a Syrian refugee. He was a vulnerable young man and they showed kindness to him.’…

According to reports he was under surveillance by intelligence services for months.

Germany denied refugee status but he was not detained or deported rather he was released pending deportation.

Why wasn’t he picked up and returned to the detention center? Why was he allowed to roam?

Europe doesn’t seem to be prepared for the reality of the world we live in today.

Germans better wake up soon.

clip_image002Attack in Berlin, Open air Christmas market

Multiple deaths and many injured.

Several people have been killed and more than 50 injured after a lorry ploughed through a crowd of shoppers at a busy Christmas market in Berlin.

German police at the scene have indicated the incident is likely to be a terror attack.

Germans had better wake up soon. This will only continue.

Germany’s migrant rape crisis has now spread to cities and towns in all 16 of Germany’s federal states. Germany now finds itself in a vicious circle: most of the perpetrators are never found, and the few who are frequently receive lenient sentences. Only one in 10 rapes in Germany is reported and just 8% of rape trials result in convictions, according to Minister of Justice Heiko Maas.

Up to 90% of the sex crimes committed in Germany in 2014 do not appear in the official statistics, according to André Schulz, the head of the Association of Criminal Police.

"There are strict instructions from the top not to report offenses committed by refugees. It is extraordinary that certain offenders are deliberately NOT being reported about and the information is being classified as confidential." — High-ranking police official in Frankfurt, quoted in Bild.

Weakness encourages recklessness

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon said on Friday it had issued a formal protest to Beijing demanding the return of an underwater drone seized by a Chinese warship in the South China Sea, an incident that risked increasing tensions in a region already fraught with great-power rivalries.

Tokyo (AFP) – The Kremlin on Friday slammed Washington for pointing the finger at President Vladimir Putin over cyber attacks targeting the US election, after Barack Obama pledged to retaliate against Russian hacking.

"At this point they need to either stop talking about this or finally present some sort of proof. Otherwise this looks extremely scurrilous," Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists during a visit to Japan.

Ten Characteristics of Good and Weak Leaders

Steve Goodier

Your Life Support System

Good Leaders understand what is happening. They size up the situation, put themselves in the right position to respond, prepare, and then act at the proper time.

Weak Leaders are blind to the current situation. They solve the wrong problems in the wrong way.

Good Leaders encourage. They give credit when things go well and take responsibility when they don’t go well.

Weak Leaders discourage others. They find fault and blame. They criticize when things don’t go right.

Good Leaders keep learning. A cross-discipline study of leadership indicated that effective leaders in all fields are always learning. They constantly improve their skills. The best leaders are perpetual learners. Unlike weak leaders, they know that a spurt here and a spurt there does not make one an expert!

Weak Leaders know it all. They already have the answers.

Good Leaders, however, will often go where there is no path and leave a trail. They are sure of their direction and they act boldly.

Weak Leaders never rock the boat. They won’t make courageous decisions for fear of failing. They prefer to keep things as they are, even if the system is not working all that well. Weak leaders will almost always follow the well-worn path.

Good Leaders know that authority is more earned than granted.

Weak Leaders keep others in their place. They remind them who is boss.

Good Leaders identify the gifts, strengths and limitations of those they lead. They assign, train, encourage and then get out of the way.

Weak Leaders do all of the work themselves. They delegate poorly. They micro-manage and control.

Good Leaders, on the other hand, help their subordinates find success. They give a hand up. They realize that when one is lifted to another’s shoulders, both stand taller.

Weak Leaders sabotage the successes of others. When those below them succeed, they feel threatened.

Good Leaders always lead by example.

Weak Leaders ask others do what they are not willing to do themselves, and try to get others to go places they have not been.

Good Leaders know that motivation by force destroys morale. They understand that people respond best to positive incentive. They know that people

Russian hacking and politics

Let’s take a look at the much heralded Washington Post article of the “Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House, “article.

The CIA shared its latest assessment with key senators in a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill last week, in which agency officials cited a growing body of intelligence from multiple sources. Agency briefers told the senators it was now “quite clear” that electing Trump was Russia’s goal, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

Humm, I wonder just how they decided they know why the Russians hacked anything and who Russia wants as President. Did they find some email that showed Putin saying, “we need to get Trump elected”? I didn’t see anything in that article to show that.

The CIA presentation to senators about Russia’s intentions fell short of a formal U.S. assessment produced by all 17 intelligence agencies. A senior U.S. official said there were minor disagreements among intelligence officials about the agency’s assessment, in part because some questions remain unanswered.

So this was not the intelligence community but a CIA presentation. Humm

…Intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence showing officials in the Kremlin “directing” the identified individuals to pass the Democratic emails to WikiLeaks, a second senior U.S. official said. Those actors, according to the official, were “one step” removed from the Russian government, rather than government employees.

I’m for a complete investigation on just how foreign agents or hell anybody was able to hack the DNC and other government official’s emails which contained sensitive information. Someone like, I don’t know, the Secretary of State maybe? It seems some very bad Operational Security (OPSEC) was being used throughout this administration’s tenor by all associated with it.

Yes indeed investigate.

Are the Russians attempting to hack US officials and release information harmful to them? Well, I would hope our officials think so all the damn time. But it seems only now that someone they don’t approve of has won the Presidential election, our officials now take notice.image

In previous assessments, the CIA, and other intelligence agencies told the White House and congressional leaders that they believed Moscow’s aim was to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system. The assessments stopped short of saying the goal was to help elect Trump.

So if the goal was to undermine the US elections it would seem the Democrats and the media are playing right into the Russian’s hands. Ooops.

The point is there isn’t much to this story if you read the entire article.  But there sure are a lot of people willing to help Russia undermine the democratic process.

Again I’ll say, when those screaming the most about elections ask for voter ID, cleaning of registration rolls of dead and illegals I’ll listen. Until then, not so much.

Winter has finally arrived in Colorado Springs

The cold has finally arrived on the Colorado Front range. Here in Colorado Springs as I write this it’s about 37 degrees. Not bad really. Yesterday’s high was around 12 degrees.

We received a little bit of snow, maybe two inches total where I’m at. Some places had a bit more some less. Driving has been mostly good but with a few moments like the one below.

Today it’s sunny so no worries.

We needed the moisture.

Now to figure out a way to get to the mountains and out of the office.
