So the unemployment rate has reached a 7 year low. Holy cow lets break out the Champagne and celebrate.
What? Wait? Why?
Let me look here a second.
Unemployment = 5.4% – Great
Labor participation rate = 69.45 Umm is that good or bad.
Let’s see, what exactly is the LPR? According to Investopidia it is: The participation rate refers to the number of people who are either employed or are actively looking for work. So is 69.45 good or bad. Well, ZeroHedge says, it’s “just above the lowest percentage since 1977”. Umm, that doesn’t sound good.
At this rate soon we will be at the lowest unemployment rate we’ve ever seen with the highest number of unemployed people ever seen. Interesting how that works.
