Ron Paul’s tweet in the Chris Kyle shooting

by

Look, Ron Paul is a nut job.  Period.  Now and then however, when you look through the hyperbole and overreactions you have agree.  Ron tweeted this :

`“Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that ‘he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.’ Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense.”

If we wish to treat PTSD as a serious mental illness, that requires my tax dollars to support treatment, than we must acknowledge the hazards. If someone is mentally unstable then common sense should be used when treating them. A gun range is not high on my list of good ideas with unstable people.

This is one hell of a tragedy and I have no doubt Chris was doing what he believed was best to help other veterans.  He is not to blame but to attack Ron Paul as if he’s said something outrageous is insane and like many other issue these days takes away from the real discussion.

Right now we have no idea how to treat mental illness in this country.  But without an honest discussion we certainly won’t come up with good solutions.  We’ll instead fight fake battles that will most certainly create more regulations and laws yet accomplish nothing.  Sometimes there’s just nothing you can do.

That said if you want to see the complete lack of thought process just follow twitter for a couple of days. It’s not encouraging for our land.

Now go and follow me on twitter…
