3 NATO troops killed in attack by man in Afghan uniform
KABUL, Afghanistan – The U.S.-led military coalition in Afghanistan says three of its troops have been killed by a man in an Afghan army uniform.

The attack is the latest in a rising number of disturbing shootings this year by Afghans soldiers — or insurgents dressed as government troops — on the international forces training them to fight the Taliban as the international coalition withdraws.

We sure aren’t hearing much about Afghanistan in the election cycle news these days.  Neither party wants to touch it.

Plaquemines Parish Flooding

August 29, 2012

It looks like hurricane Isaac is causing considerable damage to parts of Louisiana.

Twitchy has some photos that show the flooding.

I feel for the families who’s homes are underwater but I wonder, should we really be living in places that need levees to protect them from the weather?  Maybe build and live above sea level.  Just thinking out loud.

Are politicians really that stupid? Yes

Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin

"It seems to me first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare." "If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Umm, done!  Missouri GOP you better choose again.  This guys a freaking idiot.  How the hell do you misspeak as he says to this?

The really frustrating thing is,  they’re up against Claire McCaskill which should be easy pickings.  Not now.

French riots but who’s doing it? A mystery!

Riot engulfs troubled French district in north

Months of tension between police and young people in a troubled district of northern France exploded on Tuesday, with dozens of youths facing off against riot officers in a night of violence. Seventeen officers were injured, a pre-school and public gym were torched, and at least three passing drivers in Amiens were dragged from their cars.

While the identity of the rioters and the immediate cause is unclear, the economic picture of the area in question is not. Unemployment skews higher in northern France and among the country’s youth. Less than two weeks ago, the French government declared Amiens among 15 impoverished zones to receive more money and security.

Why, it’s a complete mystery as to who exactly these rioters are.  Little information is contained within the article.  Hummm.  curious.

Media?

Did you notice all of the in-depth media coverage of the Americans killed by their Afghan partners this week?  Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Colorado Springs Job Market 9.5% Unemployment

August 1, 2012

The Colorado Springs area job market took another turn for the worse in June with the unemployment rate rising to a 17-month high of 9.5 percent while payrolls fell for the first time in nearly two years, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday

I can attest to the job market here.  It’s tough…
