Instead of worrying about the world we will leave our children, perhaps we should worry more about the children we are leaving this world.

There aren’t bad children. There are bad parents, bad teachers, bad mentors, and bad examples.
Unfortunately, some parents specialize in bad parenting.
Because of the dereliction of duty by parent, schools need a lot more freedom to mold (and if necessary punish) children at their own discretion. Values education belongs in the schools.
I agree. Schools must also be able to remove problem children so that the rest of the class may progress. We can not continue bring down the majority to cater to the individual problem child.
