Palin, McCains VP choice

Six months or so ago I read an article in one of the news magazines while sitting in Iraq.  I was impressed.  After seeing this picture it’s not a hard choice.

Palin 1

Sara Palin has more executive experience than any candidate running now, has taken on Big Oil the boggy man of the left and the Republican pork hounds.  She also looks good shooting.   She has brought more real “change and hope” to politics than anyone else I’ve seen lately.

I just wish she was at the top of the ticket.

Update: You know after reading and seeing all the naysayers I really can’t wait to see a Palin/Biden debate.

Marine acquitted. Hell yes. This was a BS procecution anyway.

A former Marine accused of killing unarmed Iraqi detainees was acquitted of voluntary manslaughter Thursday in a first-of-its-kind federal trial.

What a waste of time and energy.  But that’s not the worst of it, it’s the pain and worry the Marine and his family went through because he fought a war for this country.  There have been to damn many Soldiers and Marines put on trail for doing their job.

REF My previous post.

Walk in the park

After work today we took a walk in the Fountain Creek Nature Center.  My son (6) took some pictures I promised I’d add to the web site.  So here they are.  They were taken with a Panasonic DMC-LZ2.

Rattlesnake on the Trail.  He was only about 6 inches long.

Just after finding the Rattlesnake we saw these deer.

Here is a frog trying to relax in the pond.

All in all it was a nice little walk in the park.

Update:  note, this beats the hell out of being a few miles north in Denver right now.

Persistent Warfare

James Carafano writes a good article on the Army’s use of the term Persistent Warfare. The Pentagon is constantly shooting itself in the foot in search of more funding. Mr. Carafano rightly points out the to claim we will be in a state of persistent warfare is to say we are failing and cannot win against terror or really any other warfare.

This point of view is more detrimental to the moral and success of the military than less money.

Obama / Biden Was that a smart move?

Obama the choice for change?  Was Joe Biden really a good pick for Obama.  I mean Joe is Washington in a nutshell.  How many years in DC?  How many failed attempts at the Presidency himself.  Is this really the change that Obamas followers are looking for?

A year ago I thought the Democrats couldn’t lose this election.  The media were on their side, the far left where there and the world of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) were piling enough Bash Bush sentiment that it seemed impossible for the Republicans to have a chance.  Iraq was not going well and a surge was proposed.  The Ds has a field day or so they thought.

But now, McCain who is not my choice for the Republican party looks pretty darn good.

The more we find out about Obama and his associates the less appealing he look even to the solid Democrats.

This election may yet be interesting to watch.

Cops and hookers both just doing their jobs..

OMG this is funny as hell..

“If you are asking if I had an orgasm, yes. It was a job, sir,” Breiner reportedly said during testimony. “I didn’t have pleasure doing this. I was paid to do it.”

A suspended Texas police officer testified Thursday that he was forced to have sex with two prostitutes during an undercover sting operation, saying he was “paid to do it.”

I’m telling you we don’t pay these guys enough for all their “hard” work….lmao

(good cops excluded from sarcasm  lol)

Rosanne, I mean what can you say about her?

Apparently at her web site Rosanne Barr laid into Angalina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jon Voight.  Now Voight I understand.  He is a bit right for Rosanne… But it seems that Angalina hasn’t been fast enough to endorse Barack Obama.

“Miss Jolie says she likes McCain too and hasn’t decided who to endorse … huh?” Roseanne wrote. “Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the African daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the Republican party’s worldwide economic assault on Africa over the last few decades since Reagan?”

Umm, has she paid attention to the reaction President Bush gets everytime he visits Africa?  I don’t think so.  Hell even Bob Geldolph seems to think he’s done good there.  Bono and Bush have had numerous conversations on Africa.  But again that doesn’t fit the small world view of a great star like Rosanne.

Rick Warren? Most powerful evangelical

The economist has an article about Rick Warren comparing him to Billy Graham as the most powerful evangelical in America. I have to say while I’ve heard the name before, until the questioning of John McCain and Barack Obama I wouldn’t have been able to tell you anything about the guy.  Of course I’m not an evangelical follower but I live in Colorado Springs.   Home of “Focus on the Family”. So religion isn’t completely unknown to me.  😉

Rick may be a great guy and certainly the forum for McCain and Obama was a lot better than the MSM has been able to conduct.  But how much power due evangelicals really have?  Are they united as some would suggest?

I suppose we’ll see.
